Wizards and druids can disintegrate and stone-shape away curtain walls.Ĭlearly, in such a world, the evolution of the castle would have come about with great variance from the actual middle ages. Griffin and Dragons can strafe or bombard from above. Stone Giants will be hurling bolder like a cannon. In D&D though, castle design has to account for a lot more. This is great if you are facing men at arms, archers, siege towers, and catapults.

Whenever I see depictions of fantasy castles, they are all variants of Neuschwanstein or a standard middle age "Curtain Wall + Keep" castle. Are there are good articles (dragon maybe) on how a world such as greyhawk would affect the design of a castle?
